Coaches
Head Coach Jim Weckesser
Jim has been the head coach at Centerville for six years. He was the assistant cross country coach for three years at Centerville and 1 year at Alter High School. He has coached two years of girls track and seven years of boys track at Centerville. Jim ran and held the school record at CHS from 1990-1994. He continued his running at BGSU running mainly the steeplechase. His wife, Corrie Weckesser, is the Alter Head Girl's soccer coach. He has two sons Milan born on January 22, 2009 and Charles born on May 1, 2010. Jim is a special education teacher at Ferguson Middle School in the Beavercreek School District.
High School personal bests: 800- 1:56, 1600- 4:15, 3200- 9:18, 5000- 15:33. He finished 10th at Footlocker in 1993 and 4th in the state in the 1600 in 1994. His favorite track memory is anchoring the DMR at Arcadia Invite in the 1600 with a 4:14 with a new school record 10:27.
College: Bowling Green State University. Track. 800- 1:52, 1500- 3:51, 1600- 4:07, 3000 8:24,
3000 steeplechase 8:58, 5000- 14:42. Cross Country: 8k- 24:48, 10k 31:12. Jim was All-MAC indoor and outdoor 10 times and academic All-MAC three times. His favorite memory in college was winning the 1995 MAC conference title and being ranked 13th in the nation.
Assistant Coach Craig Suttman
Craig has coached seveb years at Centerville High School. Craig ran xc for Miamisburg High School and the famous running club the Mound City Dashers with Coach Weckesser. Craig was the head middle school track coach for Centerville for two years. Craig is the principal at the School of Possibilities in Centerville.
Assistant Kevin Walsh
Kevin has coached six years at Centerville High School. Kevin grew up in New Jersey and is East Coast biased. Kevin is an avid runner and road racer and has run numerous marathons. Kevin ran for the famous Catholic school Delbarton in New Jersey. Kevin is a math teacher at Miamisburg High School.
Assistant Matt Somerlot
Matt has coached or been around track and field his entire life. His parents coached at Centerville for 25+ years and have since retired and have been nominated for the last three Olympic staffs. His parents won the 1983 girls state track title. Matt was a shot putter in high school and hammer thrower at Indiana State University. Matt was also the state record holder in the hammer throw in Ohio for numerous years. Matt has been the head track coach for boys at Centerville High School for ten years. Matt has won back to back GWOC track titles and five straight GWOC XC titles. This is Matt's six year coaching cross country.
