Running Shoes and Stores
Training Shoes. The only equipment you need for cross country. The coaches recommend buying a new pair of shoes every 3 months. Not wearing your training shoes for anything else but practice. Not to school, mowing the grass, etc. The more wear and tear you put on your shoes the more likely you are to be injured. In a perfect scenario everyone would have 2 pair of training shoes at all times alternating every other day between shoes. We are very fortunate to have 3 running stores in the Centerville Area: Runners's Plus, Endurance Sports, and Up and Running.
Racing shoes Everyone on the team needs a pair of spikes to race in. There are many advantages: light weight, the feeling, the traction, the ability to run hills, and when it is wet or muddy the advangtages are 3 fold. It is Centerville's policy that every athlete wear a running spike in the races for safety too.
